What is nervous system regulation?

Nervous system regulation is your body's ability to move between activation and calm — to rev up when something needs you and settle back down when it's over. A dysregulated nervous system gets stuck: stuck "on" (racing thoughts, snapping at people you love, scanning texts for danger, can't sleep) or stuck "off" (numb, foggy, exhausted, checked out mid-conversation). If that sounds familiar, you're not broken — your body learned this in relationships, which is why so much dysregulation gets triggered by the people closest to you.

How to regulate your nervous system

Regulation isn't one deep breath; it's a practice. It starts with noticing your state, then using body-based tools — breathwork, grounding, guided meditation — to shift it, and repeating that until calm becomes your baseline instead of a vacation.

Attached is built for exactly this daily work: personalized meditations for the moment you're spiraling, guided journaling to spot what dysregulates you (and with whom), and the attachment style quiz to understand why your body sounds the alarm in relationships at all. Free to start, no credit card.

We learned to live at ten braced, scanning, exhausted and called it normal.

So we snap, shut down or go numb, because no one taught our bodies that connection can be safe.

1. Learn your body's alarm system

Racing heart before you open their reply. Jaw tight after the call. Your body keeps data — start reading it.

2. Regulate in the moment

The skill isn't staying calm forever. It's coming back to calm faster — with tools that are there at 2am.

3. Lower your baseline for good

Daily reps quiet the alarm over time, so connection stops feeling like a threat your body has to survive.

Attached is changing thousands of lives

Even in therapy, I struggled to be fully honest, mostly out of embarrassment over irrational thoughts. But this app made it safe. The app's slow, intentional pacing helped me absorb the lessons and reflect on how they apply to my life. The Trigger Cards were a game-changer—custom to my real triggers and guide me in the moment. I've started recognizing how my anxious attachment shows up and blocks me from fully experiencing love.

Norma, Attached member

I'm very grateful for this app as it has been helping me understand myself and my patterns, encouraging growth through self-compassionate journaling, reflection, and habit tracking. My favorite part is the personalized meditations created uniquely for me.

After my divorce and the death of my best friend and mother, I struggled to adapt. I've been in therapy for years and this app is an incredible tool to help me practice the things my therapist recommends. The journaling tool reframes thoughts using AI, and the meditation feature guides acceptance, breathing, and grounding techniques.

Kristina, Attached member

This app is beyond helpful. It simplifies your journey through lessons, guided meditations, and journal prompts. It keeps you on track and maps your progress. It's worth the investment and I'm so glad I found it!
